    At 6 AM on July 26, the ponding water level in Dongqiao substation has decreased. However, at 8 AM on July 25, the water level there was rising, causing an urgent threat. At the same time, the other power substations in this area were also in danger, which may lead to a total power failure in West Haishu.

    Maintaining ordinary operation or suspending power supply? This was a dilemma that repair staff faced. Finally, they decided to protect the electricity substation from flooding, because the shutdown of this substation will affect the citizens who live around here.

    "If the Dongqiao substation shuts down, more than 40, 000 citizens would face power failure for at least half a month," said the staff of State Grid Ningbo Power Supply Company.

    Very soon, a total of four teams of 43 people were stationed in the substations in the flooded area. Two high-power water pumps, six high-power drainage pumps, 6,000 sandbags and 100 waterproof baffles, were supplied to them.

    However, as all roads were under 1.5m-deep of water, it was impossible for vehicles to move around. Thus, the emergency repair team members and seven firefighters who came to support had to walk by themselves, carrying the equipment.

    After arriving the substation, they began to drain water and plug loopholes. Although it was still raining, staff and six high-power pumps were constantly working. At 11:15 AM, the water level no longer rose; by 9:00 PM, the water level was effectively controlled.

    However, new problems continued to emerge. An urgent notice came that Zhougongzhai Reservoir and Jiaokou Reservoir were going to release flood waters to make sure the safety of upstream reservoir dam. After 1:30 AM, the flood poured into the electricity substation, making the water level increase again. There was no time for the staff to rest, and they went on working in the small hours.

    Finally, Dongqiao and other three power substations were not in danger, and power main grid was saved. It was a hard-won victory. More than a dozen Party members and youth league members of the power sector worked hard in this repair. They put their thumbprints and volunteered to the place where the flood was most serious and the rush repair was the most difficult.

    "Will you go home?" The firefighter who came to help asked Guo Pei, one of the power repair members. "I'm a Party member. I will stay here tonight." Guo Pei replied.
