The Huangjiaqiao Bun House, a famous restaurant, has opened its first eatery in the urban area of Ningbo recently. With its traditional snacks, such as steamed buns and soybean milk, Huangjiaqiao has long been a great local success in its hometown — Xiangshan County. Now, these delicacies are hitting the streets of Ningbo City and capturing local taste buds.
The newly opened restaurant is located at the urban district of Ningbo Eastern New City. In the past week, the restaurant has received an order every two minutes during busy hours.
"It is amazing to find a Huangjiaqiao eatery near my apartment in Ningbo. The food here tastes just the same as in Xiangshan," said Ms. Yu, who was born in the county.
"When I was in Xiangshan, customers from Ningbo placed orders online. Over the past few years, we have accumulated great customer base and goodwill. That's why I opened a shop here," Lu Xingzi, the owner of the Huangjiaqiao Bun House in Ningbo, said that they did not spend much on advertising for the opening of the shop, and the food spoke for themselves.
To create a clean and brightly-lit environment, Lu Xinzi designed an open kitchen in his restaurant. "When the customers can see the cooking process, it puts them at ease over food safety," said Lu.
The restaurant opens at 7 AM, Lu has to start the preparation at 5 AM everyday. "In my hometown, steamed buns are just breakfast," Lu explained, "But in Ningbo, people also take them for lunch, and our restaurant can stay open until 1 PM."
For the next step, Lu and his family have their own plans. "We still hope to expand. For example, we can build a supply chain from processing to sales in the future, and even sell frozen buns in supermarkets."
