With the recent announcement of the first batch of national night-time cultural and tourism consumption clusters, Ningbo Old Bund becomes the only winner in the city.
The Old Bund boosts a history of more than a hundred years. It has kept an old neighborhood and developed a new urban culture in historical buildings by hosting, among others, the Ningbo Art Museum as well as the best model base for Ningbo's leisure industry, and a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.
At present, more than 140 businesses and enterprises are stationed in the Old Bund, including nearly 60 bars and cafes with leisure features, 36 restaurants, 10 retailers, 38 cultural, sports, and high-quality creative culture enterprises, with a total business income of 4.55 billion yuan in 2020. Besides, the night tour pier was opened last year, turning the Old Bund into an important window to appreciate the beauty of the city and a star project of Ningbo's nighttime economy.
In 2019, 2.16 million tourists visited the Old Bund, enabling the total tourism revenue to reach 290 million; In 2020, the total number of tourist arrivals and total tourism revenue were 2.4 million and 210 million respectively.
Now, the public spaces such as squares, piers, and promenades along the river, at the Old Bund are included in an overall planning layout. Along the river, sculptures are made, and street art shows are performed to create a unique cultural atmosphere to denote the Bund as a humanistic symbol of Ningbo and a featured cultural development platform.
With the completion of the 1,640-meter river walkway along the Old Bund this year, light upgrading and transformation, intelligent systems and other projects have been promoted one after another. To further enhance the connectivity of the Old Bund area, the currently ongoing People's Square Project, a 310 million yuan investment, will link the Old Bund with the Raffles-Greenland Center business district.
The Old Bund has a mission: to be the best commercial pedestrian street, the most international window for people-to-people exchanges in Ningbo, and to create a landmark neighborhood through renovation and upgrading.
