    Taogong Island is the main attraction of Dongqian Lake and known as "the soul of Dongqian Lake, an auspicious site for Chinese merchants, and a place of worship for the god of wealth".

    陶公岛是东钱湖的主要景区，被称作“钱湖之魂所在，中国商祖福地，财神菩萨道场”。

    Taogong Island is named after Fan Li, also known as Taogong ("Lord of Tao"), a scholar-official of the State of  Yue in the Spring and Autumn Period. He is considered as "the first Chinese merchant" or "the god of wealth" by the modern Chinese. According to legend, 2,500 years ago, after retiring from politics, Fan Li lived on the Island with Xishi, one of the four legendary beauties of ancient China. They were said to embody many of the best virtues of the Chinese people and are regarded as symbols of health, beauty, peace, and happiness. As a result, Taogong Island has also become associated with wealth and love.

    陶公岛因陶朱公范蠡而得名。相传两千五百年前，中国商祖、财神菩萨陶朱公范蠡和中国古代四大美女之首西施曾经携手在此隐居。他们身上凝聚了中华民族的诸多优秀品德，是健康、美丽、平安、幸福的象征。由此，陶公岛也成为财富与爱情的圣地。

    Taogong Island is one of the most popular destinations in the Dongqian Lake scenic area, with historical sights, tourist facilities, and charming natural scenery. The Island attracts many citizens and tourists, who arrive to enjoy barbecues, boating on the lake, delicacies made with freshly-caught fish, and the idyllic landscape.

    陶公岛集怀古、休闲、娱乐于一体，更兼湖光山色，鸟语花香，是整个东钱湖景区人气最旺的地方之一，吸引着市民、游客在此休闲烧烤、湖上荡舟、品尝湖鲜、山水观光、尽享快乐。
