Lower rate to charge
Ningbo Rail Transit Line 4 is about to launch for a trial run, and the maximum fare of Ningbo Rail Transit System (NRTS) still remains no higher than 10 RMB Yuan.
According to the fare payment scheme of NRTS, the ticket policy of Line 4 will stick to the distance-based section fares. Its charge rate is to be reduced with the increase of mileage while transferring with other lines does not ask for extra pay
The opening of Line 4 also adds to the number of NRTS transfer stations. Passengers can transfer to Lines 1 and 4 at Daqing Bridge, to Lines 2 and 4 at Ningbo Railway Station, or to Lines 3 and 4 at The Children’s Park. Charged on the shortest route (no matter where a transfer is made) between stations, passengers will be able to enjoy much cheaper rates, with the average ticket price reduced by 1 RMB Yuan between the existing 94 stations.
Passengers who formerly travel from Gaoqiao West to Yinzhou Avenue would transfer from Line 1 to Line2 at Gulou (Drum Tower) for the short cut, and its one-way ticket costs 6 RMB Yuan. With the opening of Line 4, service will only be charged on the shortest route wherever the transfer is made; for example, from Gaoqiao West to Daqing Bridge (transfer to Line 4) to Ningbo Railway Station (transfer to Line 2) and to Yinzhou Avenue, the ticket price will be lowered to 5 RMB Yuan.
Passengers who formerly traveled from Southern Business District to Ningbo Railway Station would take short cut by transferring at Sakura Park for Line 1 and again at Gulou for Line 2. A one-way ticket for this service would cost 5 RMB Yuan. But with the new ticket plan of Line 4, the transfer station is automatically set at Sakura Park and only 4 RMB Yuan will be charged.
Fare schemes will be posted near automatic ticket vending machines (TVMs) at the Hall level of each station for passengers’ reference, illustrating ticket rate from current station to every other station within NRTS.
Less time to travel
Travelling with NRTS becomes faster with the increase of transfer stations. Previously, passengers commuting between Yinzhou District and Haishu District can only make their transfer at such stations as Sakura Park and Gulou. Newly added service at the Children’s Park and Ningbo Railway Station will reduce the time of traveling.
It currently takes about 31 minutes to travel from Ningbo Municipal Coach Center to Qiubi by transferring at Gulou for Line 1 and then at Sakura Park for Line 3. Travelling with Line 4 will allow passengers to spare 5 minutes by making transfer at Ningbo Railway Station and then at Sakura Park (for Line 3). The trip lasts about 26 mins.
