Ningbo will host the events of sailing, windsurfing and beach volleyball

With the upcoming 19th Asian Games, the Asian Sailing Center (Zhejiang Ocean Sports Center) and Beach Volleyball Stadium in Ningbo will host the events of sailing, windsurfing and beach volleyball. Ningbo athletes, including five gold medal winners in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, are looking forward to making history again.
In 1978, Ningbo athletes participated in the Asian Games (8th Asian Games) for the first time. Ye Peisu won the first gold medal in the Women’s Modern Pentathlon. During the following Asian Games, Chen Changchun, Huang Weiguo, Yang Bo, Qian Hong, He Cihong, Le Ying and Liu Jianjun continued winning gold medals in different events.
Since 1978, Ningbo athletes have won 34 gold, 13 silver and 11 bronze medals in the Asian Games, five of them (Wang Shun, Li Ling, Chen Hao, Xing Song and Wang Huan) succeeding in reaching the top podium five times respectively.
The 19th Asian Games are to commence on September 10th, 2022. Ningbo athletes will continue to aspire high and compete at the highest level. Ningbo will host the events of sailing, windsurfing and beach volleyball as one of the four hub cities.
The two competition venues have been completed and are ready for athletes, striving for the Olympic goal of becoming “Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together”. The Asian Sailing Center, located in the Changzuitou area of Songlan Mountain, Xiangshan, covers a land area of 15.3 hectares and a sea area of 47 hectares. The area contains a competition training center, water sports base and harbor basin. The Beach Volleyball Stadium is in the East Sea Banbian Mountain Tourist Resort, Xiangshan, and includes one main C-shaped semi-open sports stadium for 2,000 spectators, one auxiliary stadium for 500 spectators, two warm-up venues and three training venues.
To stage an unforgettable sports and cultural event with “Chinese Style, Zhejiang Glamour and Hangzhou Flavor”, Ningbo — co-host city for the 2022 Asian Games — will promote Hangzhou-Ningbo coordination, build up a “model zone” and accelerate the construction of a modern coastal metropolis, in keeping with the vision of hosting a “Green, Smart, Economical and Ethical” Asian Games.
