    Basketball spectators and the live commentators were taken on an emotional roller-coaster by the dramatic shifts on the court during the inaugural “Village Basketball Association” (VBA) tournament final held on the evening of August 8th at the Rural Cultural Hall in Xiangshan County, Ningbo, east China’s Zhejiang Province. Two teams from Zhushuixi Village, Danxi Street and Dongmen Fishing Village, Shipu Town, competed in a fierce game.

    随着球员戏剧般的攻守转换，现场观众的心、解说员的解说也跟着跌宕起伏。这正是8月8日晚，宁波象山县农村文化礼堂运动会首届“村BA”篮球赛总决赛的现场，丹西街道珠水溪村文化礼堂代表队与石浦镇东门渔村文化礼堂代表队激战正酣。

    Despite the scorching temperature of 34℃ and high humidity, the dazzlingly lit basketball court was jammed with enthusiastic fans. Some leaned against the fences, eyes unwavering, fully absorbed in the game. Undeterred by the sultry weather, these fans waved glow sticks vigorously and cheered for their favorite teams, creating an electric atmosphere reminiscent of NBA games.

    现场34℃的气温带着潮湿，但还是挡不住灯光球场被热情的球迷围成了里三层外三层，甚至还有人趴在围栏上目不转睛地盯着。球迷们不顾闷热的天气挥舞着手里的荧光棒，为自己喜欢的球队呐喊，那个架势丝毫不逊于NBA。

    All players and cheerleaders are from the grassroots community. During competition breaks, local art troupes performed traditional dances, including the thunderous drums of “Drumming Peninsula”, the graceful moves of “Chinese Red” and the majestic and powerful performance of “Mother and Son Dragon”. These captivating performances were deeply appreciated by local people.

    球员不是明星，“篮球宝贝”也不是明星。每节休息时上场的都是各个农村文化礼堂自己的舞蹈队，鼓声雷动的《鼓动半岛》、舞姿翩翩的《中国红》、气宇轩昂势如排山倒海的《母子龙》等等，都是当地老百姓喜闻乐见的节目。

    The victorious participants were rewarded with exceptional prizes, such as fresh large yellow croakers as well as the renowned Xiangshan white geese (recently praised by technical officials at the Asian Games as a world-class delicacy). Additionally, they had the opportunity to experience Xiangshan’s rich intangible cultural heritage representing local flavors, fishing culture, cuisine, and more. Each item presented with a profound sense of pride and joy.

    奖品更是别处心裁，有鲜活的大黄鱼、有被亚运会技术官员称赞的“可以款待世界”的象山大白鹅，还有代表着象山风味的非遗、渔文化、饮食等等，每一样都是那么熟悉，每一样都是那么令人自豪与骄傲！

    Rural self-confidence was ignited by such experiences. Just like the players sprinting on the court, confidence soars in every jump, shot, and throw.

    乡村的自信在那一瞬间被点燃！就像场上飞奔的球员，自信就在一跳一投一掷之间飞扬。

    The VBA tournament, co-organized by the Xiangshan County Committee Publicity Department and the Xiangshan County Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism, and Sports, traversed through 18 towns, streets, and districts from June to August. It captured the attention of residents from 352 villages in Xiangshan.

    从6月到8月，由象山县委宣传部、象山县文化和广电旅游体育局主办的象山“村BA”走遍了18个镇乡街道，吸引了象山352个村庄村民的眼球。

    Wherever VBA went, it stirred up waves of excitement. “Finished eating? Let’s go watch the game!” became the evening greeting among rural elders. The enchanting melodies of “village songs” and the captivating performances of “village dances” echoed across the Xiangshan Peninsula. The demand for “village souvenirs”soared, and even mobile vendors selling popsicles kept tabs on VBA’s game locations and schedule, “As VBA gains popularity, villagers gain wealth!”

    每到一处就会带起一股旋风，“吃完饭没？看球去”成了农村大爷大妈傍晚见面的问候语，村里的“村歌”“村舞”唱响了象山半岛，“村礼”产销两旺，就连在乡下卖冰棍的流动摊贩也收藏了村BA的比赛地点和日程：“村BA有人气，我们就有财气！”

    In the final match of VBA, the Dongmen Fishing Village team from Shipu emerged as the champions. The final game drew 320,000 spectators and online views. However, its significance extends beyond mere popularity as it ignited a vibrant enthusiasm within 18 villages and towns, fostering a deep desire to wholeheartedly embrace culture, sports, and leisure activities. While few may remember who took home the large yellow croaker or secured the championship, the excitement and vibrancy of VBA will forever be etched in people’s hearts. The true champions of this two-month competition are the residents of Xiangshan!

    村BA总决赛赛场上，石浦东门渔村队最终夺冠。线上线下32万人次的观众围观令人惊艳，但是走遍18个乡镇唤醒的广大群众对文体娱乐生活的激情更加重要。赛场上，谁捧得大黄鱼、斩获冠军可能没有几个人记得，但是村BA的火爆和热闹却永远铭刻在人们心中，象山的父老乡亲才是这两个月比赛的最终冠军！
