More than 1200 proofs of blueprints of ancient Chinese painting masterpieces, grotto art reproduced by 3D high-fidelity digital measurement and reconstruction techniques......
From 1 July to 7 October 2023, "Compilation of Classics in the Flourishing Age: The exhibition of achievements in compiling collections of ancient Chinese paintings - Special Exhibition in Ningbo" is being held at Ningbo Museum of Art. It is, by far, the largest in scale and longest in duration among all exhibitions of the Ningbo Museum of Art.
The exhibition consists of four chapters: Project Roadmap, Ancient Chinese Paintings, Immersive Spaces, and Paintings about Ningbo. The exhibition area is about 6000 square-meters.
The first part mainly introduces the work process of compiling collections of ancient Chinese paintings, showcasing the birth process of the project under the care and continuous attention of President Xi Jinping.
The second part will showcase more than 1200 published proofs of Chinese painting masterpieces from various dynasties, covering representative paintings of masters and schools throughout history, vividly presenting the fantastic artworks from Han, Tang, Song, Yuan Dynasties, etc.
For third part, through 3D high-fidelity digital measurement and reconstruction technology, represent the representative niches inscribed on the World Cultural Heritage List, such as Yungang Grottoes in Shanxi, Longmen Grottoes in Henan, Maijishan Grottoes in Gansu, Dazu Rock Carvings in Chongqing, Anyue Grottoes in Sichuan, and Xihu Grottoes in Hangzhou, which are copied in proportion, and enable visitors to appreciate these immovable grotto art heritage via technologies.
The final part of the exhibition is related to the theme of Ningbo. There are many works of artists from Ningbo who have been active in Ningbo in the exhibition area, and a considerable portion of them are exported and disseminated overseas through Ningbo. They are visual witnesses of cultural exchanges along the Maritime Silk Road.
During the exhibition, the Ningbo Museum of Art will set up a reading area and educational area to provide collections of ancient Chinese paintings published in this project. Public seminars and lectures will also be organized.
